Hypothecation Removal Guide through mParivahan
Complete guide to removing hypothecation from vehicle RC after loan repayment. Learn the step-by-step process, documents, and fees through Vahan Parivahan.
What is Hypothecation in Vehicle RC?
Hypothecation is an endorsement on the vehicle Registration Certificate (RC) indicating that the vehicle has been purchased on loan and the financier (bank or NBFC) has a lien on the vehicle until the loan is fully repaid. The HP endorsement means the vehicle ownership is partially with the financier.
After you have fully repaid your vehicle loan, you must remove the hypothecation endorsement from the RC. This is an important legal step that transfers full ownership of the vehicle to you. Until the HP is removed, the financier technically has a claim on the vehicle.
The hypothecation removal process can be initiated online through the Vahan Parivahan portal. You need to obtain a No Objection Certificate (NOC) from the financier and submit it along with other documents to the RTO for processing the HP removal.
